How to Plan a Month of Social Media Content in One Day

ree

If planning your content feels like a weekly scramble (or let’s be honest — a last-minute panic), you’re not alone. Most business owners I talk to know they should be posting consistently, but struggle to keep up. That’s why I always say: the secret to stress-free social media is in the content planning.

With the right system, you can sit down and knock out a full month of posts in just one day — yes, really. Here’s how I help my clients streamline their social media content creation so they can finally stay consistent without burning out.

Step 1: Choose Your Content Pillars

Before you write a single caption, you need a plan. Start by defining your content pillars — the 3–5 core themes you’ll post about that relate directly to your business and your audience’s needs.

For example, my content pillars at CrisCole Media include:

  • Social media marketing tips

  • Behind-the-scenes of client work

  • Email marketing advice

  • Encouragement for business owners

Having clear pillars makes it 10x easier to generate ideas and stay on-brand.

Step 2: Brainstorm 3–5 Ideas for Each Pillar

Once you have your pillars, brainstorm a few post ideas for each one. Think about what your audience is asking, struggling with, or needs to hear.

If you have 4 pillars and come up with 5 ideas for each, that’s already 20 social media posts — almost a full month!

You can mix up your formats too: carousels, Reels, quotes, tips, behind-the-scenes, or FAQs. The goal is to create a variety of social media content that keeps your feed interesting and engaging.

Step 3: Write Your Captions in Batches

Now that you have your post ideas, block out time to write your captions. When you write in batches, you stay in the creative flow and avoid context-switching — which saves so much time.

Need help? I offer done-for-you social media captions that sound like you and speak directly to your ideal client. Whether you want educational, fun, or promotional content, I’ve got you covered.

Step 4: Create or Source Your Visuals

Pair each caption with a graphic, photo, or video. If you use templates or brand kits in Canva (which I highly recommend), this step goes quickly. I help clients create branded social media templates so their feed looks polished and consistent — without reinventing the wheel every month.

You can also mix in user-generated content, stock photos, or quick selfie-style videos to keep it authentic.

Step 5: Schedule Everything in Advance

Once everything is written and paired with visuals, plug your posts into a scheduler like Later, Metricool, or Meta Business Suite. This is where you’ll really feel the power of planning ahead — your posts will go out automatically, and you can focus on engaging instead of scrambling.

This is one of the biggest time-savers I provide with my social media management services — no more last-minute stress, just consistent, strategic posting.

Bonus: Leave Room for Real-Time Content

Even with a full calendar, I always recommend leaving a little space for timely or spontaneous posts — like trending audio, a client win, or something personal. A great social media content strategy includes both planned and reactive content.
